Here are the crucial numbers from The Julius Review, which assessed the size and contribution of the UK's Public Services Industry

The revenue generated by the UK public services industry (PSI) during 2007/2008, making it the second largest in the world. The US is the largest.

The amount spent on health, the largest PSI sector, followed by social protection (£17.9bn), defence (£10.1bn) and education (£7.3bn)
