Darzi’s NHS Review
With the government’s emphasis on user satisfaction, Lord Darzi’s NHS Review sets a new foundation for a health service that provides patients with choice and empowers staff.
Darzi recommends that patients have more say through initiatives such as care plans for those with long term conditions plus the right to choose care providers, including GPs. Personal budgets will be piloted for 5,000 patients with complex conditions.
There is also an increased emphasis on helping people to help themselves with record investment in wellbeing and prevention services. For example, the new ‘Reduce Your Risk’ campaign aims to raise awareness of free vascular checks for 40-74 year-olds. To download the report visit: ournhs.nhs.uk
